SVG Stained Glass Generator (2026)

An SVG stained glass generator is a tool that turns any image into a stained-glass mosaic where each piece is a polygon filled by the average colour underneath, with dark strokes around every cell that read as the leading between glass panels.

This one runs entirely in the browser.

Drop an image in, tweak the cell count, hit make, and download the SVG.

No images leave your machine.

SVG Stained Glass
Drop an image, get back a stained-glass SVG. Runs entirely in your browser. The output is a real SVG you can download and edit in Figma or Illustrator.
The stained-glass output appears here.

How to Use It

Step 1. Upload an image, or hit the sample-image button to test.

Step 2. Pick the cell count. 60 to 200 reads as low-poly, 400 to 800 reads as classic stained glass, 1,000-plus reads as fine mosaic.

Step 3. Pick the lead width. Zero gives a flat mosaic without panels. 1.5 to 2.5 gives the classic leaded look.

Step 4. Hit make, then download as SVG or PNG.

Why SVG and Not PNG

SVG scales to any size without pixelation.

Every glass panel is a separately editable path, so you can drop the file into Figma or Illustrator and recolour individual cells.

File size is small. A 600-cell SVG is usually under 80 KB.

If you need a raster export at the end, the tool has a PNG download too.

FAQ

What does this SVG stained glass tool do?

It takes any image you upload and converts it into a stained-glass-style SVG, with each region rendered as a polygon filled by the average colour of the pixels under it.

The output is a real, editable SVG you can drop into Figma, Illustrator or your slides.

How does it work under the hood?

It scatters between 60 and 2,000 points across the image using a blue-noise distribution, runs Delaunay triangulation and Voronoi tessellation on those points using the d3-delaunay library, samples the centre colour of each Voronoi cell from the original image, and draws each cell as an SVG path with a dark stroke for the leading.

Everything happens in your browser, no images leave your machine.

Can I use the output commercially?

Yes.

The tool is free and the SVGs it produces belong to you.

If you are converting an image, you need rights to that image, but the tool itself adds no licence on top.

Why use SVG instead of a stained-glass filter that outputs PNG?

SVG scales cleanly to any size, every cell can be individually re-coloured later in Figma or Illustrator, and the file size is usually small.

PNG versions look pixelated when scaled and cannot be edited cell-by-cell.

What kind of images work best?

High-contrast images with clear colour blocks, like portraits, landscapes, product shots, or graphic art.

Photos with very fine detail (skyscapes, text) end up muddier.

If the result looks washed out, increase the cell count to 600 to 1,000.

When the final video is ready, you get unlimited revisions to make sure it’s exactly what you want.
